The Hamilton Astronomical Society is participating in the Global Meteor Project

The Global Meteor Project is an international collaboration aimed at studying the meteor shower phenomenon. The project leverages the latest technology and crowdsourcing techniques to gather data from around the world, with the goal of improving our understanding of the origin, dynamics, and composition of meteoroids. The Hamilton Astronmical Society contributes observations of meteor showers via a camera that is mounted to the obsevatory. The software for the camera runs on a Raspberry Pi and is connected to the Global Meteor Network. The collected data is analyzed by a team of scientists to gain new insights into these fascinating events and to advance our knowledge of the solar system.
