On Wednesday February 11th 
our Members Night is the annual HAS BBQ.

For the BBQ we are asking members to RSVP (members@has.org.nz) by Friday, 6th February, so we know numbers and how much food to buy.

The evening will officially start at 6:30pm, but the doors open from 6pm.

IMPORTANT

  • The Society will provide all of the food (meat, salad, bread rolls, etc), but if you have any special dietary requirements, we kindly ask that you bring your own food as it may be difficult to ensure we can cater for these with the BBQ being used to cook all meats.

  • Please bring your own drinks. Note that due to the lease agreement, no alcohol is allowed.

Guest Speaker

For those who might like to stay on after the BBQ, Andrew Buckingham from ASTRONZ (astronz.nz) will give us a presentation about telescopes. This will include what to look for when purchasing a telescope and other invaluable information for those looking to buy one.

Andrew has an extensive career in public outreach astronomy and loves teaching people about the night sky. He has developed a considerable knowledge of telescopes, binoculars and astronomical equipment. He regularly visits the ASTRONZ supplier’s factories to keep up to date on products and ensure quality. Prior to ASTRONZ, Andrew led the public programmes at Stardome Observatory. Andrew is a long-term member of the Auckland Astronomical Society and the International Planetarium Society.
